Canada faces 2-0 loss against Argentina at COPAM.

Canada lost 2-0 to top-ranked Argentina last night in a match where goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau showcased strong saves, preventing any goals in the first half. He notably stopped any scoring from Lionel Messi twice and made a crucial stop from from his free kick.

Argentina sealed the victory with a goal in the 88th minute, courtesy of Messi’s assist to Martinez.

Despite the loss, Canada demonstrated competitiveness against Argentina, keeping Messi largely contained throughout the game and ensuring an interesting and entertaining match.

After the game Canada Soccer reported that one of its players fell victim to online racial abuse. While the player targeted has not been named directly, abusive comments were directed at Moïse Bombito’s social media account following an incident involving Lionel Messi.

CONCACAF issued a statement on Friday condemning such remarks, asserting that there is no place for this behavior in the sport.

Canada is now preparing to travel to Kansas City for their next match against Peru on Tuesday.
