Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JFDR) organizing community walk in Fort Saskatchewan to raise support against type 1 diabetes.

This Sunday, the community of Fort Saskatchewan will unite with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation for the Walk to Cure Diabetes.

The organization focuses on raising funds for type one diabetes research and this year marks their 50th anniversary.

 “This organization began with dedicated parents looking drive T1D research, and we honour that legacy every year at the Walk, bringing together the T1D community for this singular goal. Funds raised from the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes will help improve lives of Canadians living with T1D by accelerating life-changing breakthroughs to treat, prevent and cure T1D.” – Jessica Diniz, President and CEO of JDRF Canada.

Participants are encouraged to check in at 10 AM at the West River’s Edge Pavilion, with the walk commencing at 11 AM. Following the walk, there will be a BBQ from 12 PM to 1 PM.

Fort Saskatchewan will be one of over 50 communities across Canada. The walk has raised over $140 million and is the longest running and most successful fundraising events in the country. This year the collective fundraising goal in all of Canada is $3.7 million.
