WestJet mechanics go on strike despite federal government arbitration decree

WestJet airplane mechanics say they are hitting the picket lines in a surprise move.

WestJet says travellers can expect severe disruption to their flight plans if the abrupt strike is not called off immediately.

The second-largest airline in the country says it is asking for immediate intervention by the federal labour minister and the labour tribunal.
