Another day, another Jeep thing we don’t understand: an Edmonton woman was arrested after Fort Saskatchewan RCMP clocked her Jeep Wrangler at 171 km/h on Highway 15 just west of Lamont Thursday afternoon.
The weather on Thursday was cloudy with scattered showers, and that stretch of highway is undivided and posted at 100 km/h. Thankfully, nobody was hurt, and no Jeeps in this story experienced death wobble, lost control, and came to rest upside down in the ditch.
The driver was a 24-year-old woman…driving a Jeep Wrangler…like it was stolen. This right here is the reason why some stereotypes just won’t die.
There’s no word on how many thousands of dollars the driver’s car insurance will cost at her next renewal.
Fort Saskatchewan RCMP stress the importance of abiding by posted speed limits, and driving to the road conditions.
And while not encouraging extreme speeds or reckless driving for any reason, this journalist offers a gentle reminder that radar detectors are indeed legal in Alberta.
