The Edmonton Police Service Homicide Section is investigating the death of a woman that occurred early Wednesday morning in southeast Edmonton.
On Wednesday at approximately 5:00 am, Southeast Branch patrol officers responded to a residence near 3 Avenue and 42 Street SW on the report of a serious assault. Upon arrival, officers located an adult female suffering from life-threatening injuries. EMS responded and she was declared deceased on scene.
A male suspect was taken into custody shortly after and Homicide Section detectives have since taken over the investigation.
Police say the victim and the suspect are known to each other, and investigators are not looking for anyone else in relation to this incident.
