Driver flees after serious crash in Fort Saskatchewan

Fort Saskatchewan RCMP responded to a serious collision on Highway 15 on Thursday evening.

Police allege that the suspect, Brett Daniel Conrad (27) of Fort Saskatchewan, was behind the wheel of a truck that rear-ended a motorcycle and continued driving, dragging the motorcycle a kilometre from the bridge over the North Saskatchewan River to the Highway 21 intersection. The driver and passenger of the motorcycle, a father and daughter, were thrown off the bike and were transported to hospital in very serious condition. 

RCMP quickly located the suspect vehicle, which had fled the scene, and the driver was arrested. 

Brett Daniel Conrad has been charged with 11 offences, some of which include:

  • Drive while over 80 mg%
  • Impaired driving causing bodily harm (x2)
  • Dangerous driving causing bodily harm (x2)
  • Driver in accident fail to render assistance
  • Utter threats

Conrad was released from custody to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Fort Saskatchewan on Aug. 15, 2024.
