Edmonton police have charged two individuals following the seizure of a rifle and ammunition from an apartment earlier this week.
Around 4:15 a.m. on Monday, officers responded to a weapons complaint near 104 Avenue and 95 Street. Reports indicated that a man and a woman had entered the apartment complex, followed another man into an elevator, and attempted to rob him. They then tried to follow him to his apartment.
Upon arriving at the scene and securing the building, officers found a man and a woman who matched the description provided. Both individuals attempted to flee but were apprehended by police.
A search of the area led to the discovery of a backpack believed to have been dropped during the chase. The backpack contained a loaded rifle, a loaded spare magazine, and nearly 100 additional rounds of ammunition.
The two suspects have been charged in connection with the incident.
