Red deer senior in custody for allegedly luring children into his apartment

A 71-year-old man from Red Deer, identified as Terry Hasker, is in custody following allegations of luring children into his apartment with candy and sexually assaulting them.

On August 10, police received reports that Hasker, who is accused of using candy to entice children, had invited them into his apartment and assaulted them. He faces multiple charges, including sexual interference with a minor under 16, sexual assault of a child under 16, invitation to sexual touching, indecent acts, and two counts of breach of probation.

Police believe Hasker used the alias “The Candy Man” and falsely claimed to be in his thirties. He reportedly asked children for their phone numbers.

Hasker has a history of similar offenses. Previously, he was charged after showing a child a picture of genitalia at a playground and, two years later in 2021, for exposing himself to children.

A court date for Hasker has been scheduled for December 14.
