Edmonton Police Service identified person of interest concerning fire that misplaced 70 people

Edmonton police have identified a person of interest in connection with a fire that displaced 70 residents earlier this week.

The blaze, which occurred around 4:30 a.m. on September 18, destroyed an apartment building and several townhouses in the Desrochers neighbourhood. The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are still under investigation.

Authorities confirmed they have received doorbell camera footage showing a male and female walking with a wagon and stroller in the area where the suspect, seen riding a bike and towing a small cart, was last observed.

Police are seeking to speak with the pair and are encouraging anyone with additional footage of the suspect to come forward.
