Israeli strike kills over 270, deadliest since 2006

A barrage of Israeli strikes has resulted in the deaths of more than 270 Lebanese people, marking the deadliest assault since the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah war. The Israeli military has issued warnings for residents in southern and eastern Lebanon to evacuate their homes.

In response to the violence, thousands of Lebanese have fled the south, causing significant traffic jams on the main highway out of the southern port city of Sidon as people head toward Beirut. This marks the largest exodus since the 2006 conflict.

More than 1,000 individuals have been reported wounded in the strikes. Lebanese Health Minister Firass Abiad stated that hospitals, medical centers, and ambulances were among the targets hit.

In light of the escalating situation, the Lebanese government has ordered the closure of schools and universities across much of the country and is preparing shelters for those displaced from the southern regions.
