1 person dead after a semi and SUV collided head on north of Edmonton

One person is dead following a crash between a semi-truck and an SUV southeast of Slave Lake on Highway 2 last night.

RCMP say a Chevrolet Suburban was travelling on the highway shortly before 9:20 p.m. when it crossed the centre line and collided head-on with the semi.

The driver, who was the only person in the SUV, was pronounced dead at the scene. The condition of the semi driver has not been disclosed.

The highway was closed for several hours as police investigated but has since reopened.
