Escaped Edmonton inmate captured after 8 months on the run

William Mackinaw, an inmate who escaped from the Stan Daniels Healing Centre in January, has been captured after eight months at large.

Mackinaw, who was on Edmonton’s most-wanted list, was apprehended on Saturday by Red Deer RCMP. Edmonton police have confirmed that Mackinaw is serving a 23-year sentence for multiple offenses, including firearms-related crimes.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances of his escape from the healing centre earlier this year.
