American Airlines testing system that combats ‘Gate Lice’

American Airlines is testing a system to stop passengers from boarding before their group is called. Currently being trialed in Albuquerque and Tucson, the system alerts gate agents with a sound and displays the correct boarding group when someone tries to board early.

The airline plans to expand the system to more locations. The goal is to make boarding smoother and fairer by reducing crowding and keeping passengers in their assigned groups—making it a better experience for everyone.
