Biden to host Trump at white house for handoff

U.S. President Joe Biden welcomed former president Donald Trump to the White House today as part of a long-standing tradition to facilitate the peaceful transfer of power. The president-elect was joined by billionaire businessman Elon Musk.

Trump is expected to hold meetings with congressional Republicans to outline his administration’s key Day 1 priorities. GOP leaders are preparing for the possibility of unified control, following significant Republican victories in Congress. As Trump’s second administration starts to take shape, many of the people landing top jobs have been critical of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and security at Canada’s border.

Neither Trump or Biden answered questions from the media after their brief remarks. Trump has not said if he will visit the senate.
