$65 million Fieldhouse being built in Sherwood Park

This past Tuesday, the Strathcona County Council approved the last reading for a debt-borrowing bylaw. The money borrowed will be used on a $65 million indoor fieldhouse in Sherwood Park. This bylaw is allowing the city to borrow $35 million over 25 years. The remaining $30 million is being funded by municipal reserves. “This is the next wave in recreation.” Mayor Rod Frank exclaimed. “When you look around the region, there’s two or three field houses and they’re all in Edmonton. A lot of these sports don’t just happen in the summer anymore, they go year round.”

According to the Budget 2025, the indoor fieldhouse will begin construction in 2028. The facility will be built east of Broadmoor Boulevard and Buckingham Drive. The current design gives space for baseball, lacrosse, soccer, and rugby.
