A fire restriction has been announced for Lamont County effective May 22, 2025, at 8 a.m..
Lamont County representatives have stated that this is due to lasting dry conditions despite the periods of rain within the Heartland region in the past week.
The following municipalities are also under Fire Restriction: Lamont County, Town of Bruderheim and Village of Andrew, other municipalities TBD.
A fire restriction bans the uncontained flames, including fireworks and exploding targets. It also immediately rescinds any fire permits or firework discharge permits.
The restriction still allows barrel burning, as long as they are covered with a mesh screen and are 3 meters away from any combustible material, including buildings. The same restriction applies to fire pits, gas/propane fire pits, and barbeques.
Lamont County also asks residents to be aware when taking part in activities that may accidentally start a fire, including riding All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) or cutting tall grass.
Fire restrictions can become fire bans at a very short notice. Lamont County asks residents to keep themselves up to date by checking their news page, or by visiting our website at heartlandnews.ca. Lamont County will also keep residents informed by updating their Facebook and Twitter/X pages.
