On July 1 at approximately 7:30 p.m., Wetaskiwin RCMP were made aware of a report of a head-on collision that occurred on Highway 2A just south of the Wetaskiwin City Limits.
The crash involved a pick-up truck and a small SUV.
Police and EMS were able to rescue two occupants from one of the two vehicles. Unfortunately, a 61-uear-old male resident of California and a 64-year-old female resident of Wetaskiwin were found deceased at the scene.
The two other occupants were taken to hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.
The investigation is ongoing with assistance of the K-Division Collision Analyst team and the Wetaskiwin General Investigation Unit.
