Strathcona County’s Celebration of Lights right around the corner

Strathcona County’s annual Celebration of Lights is coming to the area later this month.

On November 18 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., Festival Place in Sherwood Park will have an array of free festivities, from wagon rides with Santa to holiday crafts and cookie decorating.

There will also be campfire cooking and writing letters to Santa. Then at 5 p.m.m the countdown begins for the lightning of the community Christmas lights and LED tree.

With most of the celebration going on outside, it’s recommended that you dress for the weather.

Because of the celebration, Festival Way will be closed at Brentwood Boulevard between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., with parking available at the Sherwood Park Arena, the Community Centre, and Centre in the Park parkades.

The county is still looking for volunteers, you can find out how to help by visiting the Strathcona County website.

Although the event is free to attend, the county asks that you bring a donation for the Strathcona Food Bank.
