At 3:10 p.m. police updated the alert to advise, “the situation has stabilised and the shelter in place is now cancelled for the Pineview Community.”

At 11:50 a.m., the RCMP issued a critical civil emergency for Fort Saskatchewan. Police said their suspect is 32-year-old Trevor Chykerda. Police warned residents not to approach this person.
Constable Kelsey Davidgde told Heartland News RCMP responded to a firearms call in the Pineview area at a residence on 95 A Avenue near 87 Street at 9:53 a.m.
“Avoid the area, remain in your residence if in the vicinity, and follow the directions of responding officers,” an earlier news release said.
“The male then left the residence, so that’s why we’re actively looking for him within the Fort Saskatchewan area,” Davidge said.
Police describe Chykerda as:
- 32-years-old
- 5 foot 6 inches tall
- 150 lbs
- brown hair
- brown eyes
- wearing all dark clothing
He is considered armed and dangerous. Police warn residents not to approach him.
Police warn residents to stay inside, lock windows and doors, do not report on police locations, stay away from the area if you aren’t already there.
“Please refrain from posting police activity on social media until the situation is over. An additional release will be anticipated and sent out once more information is available,” Davidge said.
