Savour Festival returning to Sherwood Park this weekend

It’s shaping up to be a tasty weekend in Strathcona County.

The annual Savour Festival is set to return to Sherwood Park on Sunday with over 20 local restaurants, food trucks, and liquor vendors attending.

“This is really our opportunity to bring in those local businesses, those local entrepreneurs, with the people who live right here in our own community in Strathcona County and have their stuff on display and for sale,” said Eiblis Doherty, an economic development officer with the county.

“It’s very similar to Taste of Edmonton but it’s only local people that are invited.”

Among some of the new additions to this year’s lineup of vendors is Big Bear Sandwich Co. which just opened in the previous year as well as the Malina Ukrainian Bakery. Last year was the first time that liquor manufacturers were invited in, and it was so successful that they decided to expand that for this year’s festival.

That is not all, as some local artists selling their artwork at the event as well.

“We have local artists on-hand who are going to be on hand that the Gallery@501 helps to bring in,” said Doherty. “They’re going to have their displays for sale and you can do a little art-walk with all the stuff they have.”

On top of all that there will also be a bevy of local performers taking to the Luke Jansen Soundstage throughout the day including:

  • Addison Wall and Kat Krys
  • Amanda Penner
  • Jed and the Valentine
  • Lucas Chaisson
  • Kaeley Jade
  • Travis Matthews

Residents of all ages are welcome to come by and enjoy the event, with a special kids zone that will be supported by the Strathcona County Museum and Archives.

“They have a few surprises up their sleeve with some vintage popular eats that they will be serving up,” said Doherty.

You’ll be able to attend the event from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Community Centre Agora in Sherwood Park at 401 Festival Lane. It is completely free to attend but food will cost some money.
