‘Cram the Van’ raises thousands for Families First Society

‘Cram the Van’ was a huge success in Fort Saskatchewan.

Last weekend, Fort Saskatchewan Correctional Officers were outside the local Walmart collecting new toys and cash.

This was the seventh year of the event, with all toys and cash going towards the Fort Saskatchewan Families First Society.

“Overall, it was a great success,” said Chris Gibson, intelligence officer at the Fort Saskatchewan Correctional Facility. “We did about six or seven vans full, which is down a little bit from previous years, but still a phenomenal response from the community.

Gibson added that, in cash, they raised about $5,200.

“Fort Saskatchewan has always gotten behind us in this event,” said Gibson. “Discussing it with my colleagues who did Cram the Van in other cities, we always come out on top, and that’s all thanks to the people of Fort Saskatchewan.”

The Families First Society accepts donations all year long. You can donate yourself by visiting their website.
