A 36-year-old Edmonton police officer will face charges of sexual assault stemming from an accusation made nearly a year ago.
The constable is accused of sexually assaulting a woman in St. Albert. The officer was in a relationship with the woman at the time of the accused November 18, 2022 incident, per a report by CBC News.
The accusation was made to the RCMP on February 17, 2023, and Mounties arrested the EPS constable about three weeks later, on March 8, 2023.
The officer is also accused of breaching a no contact order in July of 2023.
Neither the RCMP nor EPS issued a statement about this arrest at the time of the incident.
A trial is set for early December in Edmonton.
