Strathcona County Transit will be getting some new buses to join their fleet.
This comes as the federal government announced that they’d be investing over $9 million in funding for six transit projects in the county.
These projects include:
- Installing around 200 bus stop pads
- Purchasing six double decker buses
- Purchasing 10 regular passenger buses
- Purchasing nine eight-passenger mobility transit buses to replace the current aging vehicles
The county will also be adding in new sidewalk links and implementing a workforce management software for operators.
The county has also invested $12 million for the six projects, which should be rolling out over the next three years.
The funding for this project was approved on February 2.
