New bus service connecting Fort Saskatchewan to Sherwood Park

Starting in July, Strathcona County will be providing weekday bus service between Sherwood Park and Fort Saskatchewan.

This service is funded by the City of Fort Saskatchewan and supports the needs of commuters who travel between Sherwood Park, Edmonton, Fort Saskatchewan.

This new service will have four morning and four afternoon round trips throughout the summer, and four morning and seven afternoon round trips during the fall and winter.

“In response to community demand and through collaboration with our regional partners, the commuter route between Fort Saskatchewan and Sherwood Park aims to bridge connectivity gaps and provide a vital link for residents commuting for work, or school, medical appointments and more,” said Gale Katchur, Mayor of Fort Saskatchewan. “This initiative aligns with our commitment to meeting evolving transportation needs and improving quality of life.”

This new route will be going between the Bethel Transit Terminal and the Dow Centennial Centre. This bus service will also be implementing the Arc electronic fare payment system to support easier access to local transit.

This is the first new route established under the Memorandum of Understanding that was signed back in January, which furthers positive collaboration, mutual support, and working relationships between municipalities.

More information on the new route will be shared on the Strathcona County and City of Fort Saskatchewan websites.
