Philadelphia Flyers hire former Sherwood Park NHL draft pick

The Philadelphia Flyers have added a former Sherwood Park NHL draft pick into their scouting department.

Greg Chase, who spent his youth playing for the Sherwood Park Flyers, will now serve as a pro scout for the Flyers for the upcoming NHL season.

Chase is a former 7th round draft choice of the Edmonton Oilers back in 2013. He spent parts of five seasons with the WHL’s Calgary Hitmen before turning pro in 2014 with the AHL’s Oklahoma City Barons.

Unfortunately, he was not able to stick with any one team for very long. For the duration of his playing career, he bounced between the AHL and ECHL. He finished his career in 2021-22 playing in Scotland for the Fife Flyers.

Chase has a unique connection to Philadelphia Flyers GM Danny Briere, having played for the Maine Mariners at the same time Briere served as the team’s president and governor.

The Flyers also added former NHLer Dany Heatley as a pro scout and former Anaheim Ducks GM Bob Murray as a senior advisor.
