Fort Saskatchewan’s city council has approved the 2024 Property Tax Bylaw on Tuesday, with an increase of 2.86 per cent coming to the city.
“City Council is pleased to announce that our city has once again managed to keep property tax increases to a minimum while ensuring the continued delivery of top-notch services. This accomplishment underscores our unwavering dedication to responsible budgeting and our commitment to fostering a vibrant, equitable community for all residents,” said Mayor of Fort Saskatchewan, Gale Katchur.
This increase was chosen based on the cost of an average residential property and the City’s 2024 operating budget of $95.1 million.
Property tax bills consist of three major elements: municipal taxes, education taxes, and seniors’ housing taxes. These taxes provide a variety of services, from parks and roads to educational funding.
Each property will receive a tax notice based on the value of their property, with notices being mailed to homeowners, business owners, and industry starting next week.
Taxes are due on June 30 and can be paid either through online banking, by mailing a cheque to the City of Fort Saskatchewan, or through monthly payments with the Fort Electronic Payment Plan.
