Bruderheim may prohibit the media from recording public council meetings

Bruderheim council is considering some changes to their Meeting Procedures Bylaw, including prohibiting the media and the public from recording public council meetings.

These changes were proposed by chief administrative officer Phyllis Forsyth for the Wednesday council meeting, with the first reading taking place at that same meeting.

Other changes would include councillors prohibited from attending closed sessions remotely, with Mayor Karl Hauch also recommending that people be fined up to $10,000 for disclosing personal information.

If the bylaw is passed, it would make Bruderheim the only municipality in Lamont County to prohibit the recording of council meetings. The bills first reading is on Wednesday, with three readings needed to be approved before the bylaw would be passed.

The first reading of this bylaw will be at the Bruderheim Fire Station at 7 p.m.
