Frost Advisory issued for much of Central Alberta

You could be forgiven for thinking that winter was behind us now that the calendar says June, but Mother Nature has other ideas.  That’s why Environment Canada has issued a Frost advisory for:

  • City of Edmonton
  • Sherwood Park
  • St. Albert
  • Fort Saskatchewan
  • Sturgeon County
  • Strathcona County
  • Lamont County

Frost may damage some crops in frost-prone areas.

Clearing skies overnight, combined with a cold airmass, will give temperatures near or below zero. Patchy frost is expected.

Take preventative measures to protect frost-sensitive plants and trees.

Frost advisories are issued when temperatures are expected to reach the freezing mark during the growing season, leading to potential damage and destruction to plants and crops.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ABstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #ABStorm.
