All the winter activities at Elk Island National Park

Elk Island National Park has a ton of winter activities taking place at the park this season.

If you’re looking to explore the trails in style, you can rent both snowshoes and cross-country skis at the park. However, park staff ask that snowshoers walk beside the existing ski tracks instead of over them.

If you already have your own snowshoes or skis at home, you can bring those too. You can even join their snowshoeing program as well.

If you’re looking to get away from the cold, you can also warm up at their picnic shelters located all throughout the park.

For those looking to stay the night, you may get a chance to see the starry sky on a cloudless night, and maybe even the aurora borealis.

Park staff ask that residents plan ahead for their winter adventures by checking their local forecast and road conditions.

To learn more about the winter activities at Elk Island National Park, you can visit the park’s website.
