Edmonton police officer nominated for JUNO award

David Pederson, an Edmonton police officer, is headed to Halifax this weekend after his band Stirling John was nominated for a JUNO award.

Stirling John is a band led by a musician of the same name who also serves as a member of the Alberta RCMP. Pederson plays guitar and sings backup vocals in the band.

Pederson also serves as a resource officer at H.E. Beriault Catholic Junior High School, with Pederson even performing a concert on Friday for the students to celebrate the nomination.

“H.E. Beriault students are excited for the chance to celebrate the nomination and give the Edmonton-area band a big send-off as they make their way to Canada’s biggest night in music,” wrote the Edmonton Police Service in a release.

Their recent album ‘Try Again’ was nominated for the Contemporary Christian Gospel Album of the Year category.

The JUNO Awards take place in Halifax on March 24 and will be hosted by Nelly Furtado. Stirling John is up against artists such as K-Anthony and Brooke Nicholls.
