The provincial government announced that two bridges on Anthony Henday Drive will be named after two Edmonton police officers who died in the line of duty.
“I am deeply grateful to the Government of Alberta for their support during our time of such profound loss. This is a poignant tribute to Travis and Brett’s service, reminding Edmontonians of the sacrifice they made in their dedication to keeping our city safe. They will never be forgotten; every day, we honour their legacy,” said Dale McFee, chief of the Edmonton Police Service (EPS).
Jordan joined EPS in 2014, with Ryan joining three years later. Both of the officers were shot and killed by a 16-year-old boy while responding to a domestic dispute in March of 2023.
The eastbound bridge will be dedicated in Jordan’s memory, who was born in Nova Scotia, while the westbound bridge will be named after Ryan, who lived in Spruce Grove.
There will also be memorial signs with the fallen officers’ names posted at the ends of each bridge.
Earlier this month, EPS honoured the one-year anniversary of the officers’ deaths.
