Extreme heat response in Edmonton has been extended

The response to extreme heat in Edmonton has been extended due to anticipated high temperatures. Initially activated on Monday the 15th and originally scheduled to conclude on Tuesday the 23rd, the response will now continue until Friday, July 26th.

Environment Canada issued an alert forecasting daytime highs of 29 degrees Celsius for at least three consecutive days, prompting the extension.

To help residents cope with the heat, drinking water will be available 24 hours a day at water bottle filling stations located near fire hydrants throughout the city.
