Edmonton Man Killed in Bonnyville Collision Amid Icy Conditions

A 25-year-old Edmonton man was killed Tuesday in a collision between a pickup truck and a semi on an icy rural road near Bonnyville, according to RCMP.

The crash occurred on Township Road 640, north of La Corey, where Bonnyville RCMP, regional fire crews, EMS, and local peace officers responded to the scene. Investigators believe freezing rain and slick road conditions played a significant role in the crash.

Authorities have not released the victim’s name.

Following the crash, Township Road 640 was temporarily closed but has since reopened. The investigation remains ongoing.

With spring weather creating unpredictable driving conditions across Alberta, officials are urging motorists to exercise caution, particularly on rural highways where ice can develop quickly.
