There was an absolutely enormous turnout at the Model T races in Bruderheim over the weekend.
On Saturday (Sep. 2), nearly 1,300 people arrived at the Bruderheim Agricultural Grounds for the annual races.
“There were lots of guys from down south. We were a little light on the Model T cars compared to usual, but we made it work,” said Matt Hotte with Alberta T Racing, the group that put on the event.
There wasn’t just Model T races at the event, but motorcycle races, a car show, food trucks, and even a petting zoo for the kids.
The stands were filled with photography hobbyists and excited fans ready to watch the races. However, due to the lack of cars, there was no definitive winner as they were just exhibition races.
The event managed to raise some money on the side, with an early morning pancake breakfast held by the Bruderheim Fire Department raising over $1,000 for the Alberta Fire Fighters Burn Camp for Children.
“It was very successful for them,” added Hotte.
With the success of this year’s event, Hotte said that they’re already getting started on planning next year’s races, which should be taking place next Labour Day weekend.
