Alleged grenade found in Sherwood Park home

A Sherwood Park homeowner got a shocking surprise while cleaning their home.

Emergency Crews were called to the Glen Allan home on Monday just after 6 p.m. as the homeowner reported finding what they believed to be a grenade.

The RCMP Explosive Device Unit was called to the scene where they determined that the device was no longer in operation.

However, the military has taken hold of the alleged grenade for additional testing as police officers remained on-scene until just before 10 p.m.

Residents are asked to use caution when dealing with potential explosives, and to contact police immediately.
